The Stone-Zimmermann Duo is committed to performing both classical and contemporary masterpieces for violin and piano. Together, these European-born musicians create innovative programs that enthrall audiences of all ages.

Appearing in their string quartet configuration, members of this accomplished consortium of local musicians present new music alongside classic masterworks, highlighting the ever-expanding continuum of chamber music. Tonight we will hear one of the revered late Beethoven quartets, Op. 131, teamed with three contemporary works inspired by this great piece.

This outstanding local ensemble champions music that shatters stereotypes of the saxophone and helps anchor this instrument’s place in classical music. Their sparkling presentations of both original saxophone quartet compositions and transcriptions of classical favorites are sure to please.

This Trio has excited international concert audiences at appearances in major European cities, at festivals, and on nationwide tours in the USA. Their CD Three Friends was a “best pick” for 2001 by Gramophone Magazine of London. Through the efforts of the Debussy Trio ensemble, the harp has gracefully taken its place as a recognized and valued chamber music instrument.
Concerts are Tuesday nights and begin at 7.30 p.m. in the second floor Ballroom of Julia Morgan's gorgeous Berkeley City Club, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 2315 Durant Avenue, Berkeley.
