BAMC’s (Bay Area Music Consortium’s)* Debut Program

This program offers an unprecedented musical, emotional and spiritual experience. It begins with two string quartets bracketing the entire history of the genre from Haydn, the founding father - a St. Lawrence Quartet specialty - to Bay Area living composer Jonathan Berger, where both works are especially inspired by dance. Next, one of the most profound pieces in the entire literature, Beethoven's "Heiliger Dankgesang", from his Op. 132 will transport the audience into a spiritual realm cultivating a deeply vulnerable receptivity for Golijov's shattering and transcendent Klezmer-inspired finale with clarinet.

Program:
HUMANITY THROUGH FOUR CENTURIES OF MUSIC
F.J. Haydn: Quartet Op. 20 No.4
Jonathan Berger: Tango alla Zingarese
Beethoven: Op. 132, Heiliger Dankgesang
Osvaldo Golijov: Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind
